De Pluimgraaf is inspired by the story of Wiebe Joustra, the former gardener of the Huize Bergen estate. His passion for plants and flowers led to a fascination with exotic herbs and spices. This beer is enriched with an infusion of Rooibos, sourced from South Africa. You'll also taste subtle notes of licorice and star anise. The estate employed several gardeners to maintain the parks. One of the first, Bertus van der Vleuten, worked for the Fentener van Vlissingen couple.

In 1919, Frisian gardener Wiebe Joustra took over. He and his wife moved from Sneek to Vught and regularly published about his profession and the estate's greenhouses, including for the Dutch Orchid Society. Besides tropical plants, Wiebe also managed the bird population, including those on the bird island. A striking sight were the flamingos, gracefully standing among the rhododendrons, as described in the magazine "Buiten" (Outside) in 1931. A special story is about the white peacocks, Charlotte van Beuningen's favorite birds. Wiebe was therefore nicknamed "The Feather Count" at Huize Bergen.

The BROUWSTUDIO is a project by Uwe-Thorsten Kalms, a certified beer sommelier and brewer. He and his team have one mission: beer should be experienced, and that's perfectly suited to a stay at Landgoed Huize Bergen.

At Landgoed Huize Bergen, we proudly present our own gin, Viola Gloria, specially crafted for us. This unique gin pays tribute to the rich botanical heritage of Mr. and Mrs. Van Beuningen. With notes of juniper, violet, cardamom, orange, and other fine spices, this gin offers a distinctive yet surprising taste experience. Enjoy Viola Gloria as an aperitif or during a relaxed drink in De Salon or on the terrace. Our carefully crafted Gin & Tonic brings out the full flavor and aromas to their fullest.
